Migration map of Tunisia -
- detailed instructions, form and sample filling
The migration map of Tunisia is one of the most incomprehensible in the world. Its correct filling often causes questions even those tourists who know English well. In this article we will describe its features, give a detailed instruction on the design of this document.
And our first tip: take a ballpoint pen with you to Tunisia to fill out the card. Often in the arrival areas of airports, long queues of tourists are built to receive a pen and fill out the card.
Two parts of the map
The migration map of Tunisia consists of two parts. The first one is called the "international board for landing and disembarkation", it is on top. From the bottom is the second part - the "visitor card of a non-resident".
What is the difference between these two parts is a mystery. Usually, the card is divided into two parts - Arrival and Departure, and the first part you hand over to the migration service of the country at arrival, and the second one at departure.
In the airports of Tunisia, sometimes the card is taken away completely immediately, and sometimes the tourist is left with the lower part. This indicates that the airport staff themselves do not understand the purpose of these two parts.
In any case, we recommend that you fill in both parts at once and save your time. See the card on the right. Click on the image to enlarge.
You will receive the migration card at the airport after the flight to Tunisia . This is another local feature - they are almost never issued in airplanes. This applies not only to flights from Russia, but all flights in general.
If you read the foreign Internet, then there are complaints on every page: "The migration card is not issued on the plane - what a lack of culture." It is difficult to say what the reason for this situation is. Whether with a paper they have problems, whether ink deficiency, whether the printing house is overloaded.
Filling out the migration map of Tunisia
The Tunisian migration card contains inscriptions in English, Arabic and French. Recall that in Tunisia, two official languages - their native Arabic and French, which came into use at the time of the history of Tunisia , when the country was a colony of France.
We urge all tourists not to worry and do not treat the filling of the migration card too seriously. We have not yet seen the case when someone was "wrapped" on the border and forced to fill it again.
In the picture on the left you see a migration card with an example of filling. Click on the image to enlarge.
Difficulties for tourists begin already with the first graph - "Name", "First Name" and "Maiden Name". What to write to?
We remind you that in the European tradition the name is always written first. The last name is always written.
In the column "Name" (1) we write a surname.
In the column "First Name" (2) we write a name . The middle name in the first part of the Tunisian migration card does not participate. The name and surname need to be rewritten exactly as in a foreign passport in Latin letters.
The column "Maiden Name" (3) is a maiden name . It is intended only for women, and only if you changed your surname after marriage. Men need to leave it empty! Some tourists enter their patronymic there, and an anecdotal situation turns out.
The column "Date and place of birth" (4) is the date and place of your birth . About the date of questions does not arise, but the place of birth causes difficulties. Tourists just do not understand what they want from them: country, city, maternity home address or all together. Write the city of your birth, it's easier and faster.
Count "Nationality" (5) - this is citizenship . It has no relation to nationality. This is in Russian there are different words - "Russian", where ethnicity is meant, and "Russian", when referring to a Russian citizen. In English and French there is no such division. For them, we are all called the word "Russian", and it does not matter if you are Russian, Bashkir or Ossetian.
Just write "Russia", "Russian Federation" or "Russian". By the way, the word "Russian" in Russian is written with a small letter, and in English "Russian" is written with a capital letter.
The graph "Profession" (6) is your profession . That is, what you are currently working on. Write "manager", so it's easier and faster. Each of us is the manager of something.
The "Passport Nbr or Identify card Nbr" column (7) is the number of your passport . Just copy it from your passport.
The column "Date and place of issuing" (8) is the date and place of issue of your foreign passport . Also copied from your passport. In many passports of Russians the place of issue is written in Russian letters, for example, "FMS 77845". In this case, write in Russian letters in the migration card.
The column "Coming from / Going to" (9) - translates as "Where do you come from / Where are you going" . This is another graph that causes difficulties for tourists. If you are flying to an organized tour, then simply write the name of the city of departure and arrival. For example, "Moscow" or "Saint-Petersburg".
The more complicated case is if you are in transit in Tunisia. Then write the city of departure and the city of destination. For example, "Moscow / London" or "Saint-Petersburg / Berlin".
The "Address" graph (10) is the most ambiguous graph, since it is not clear what exactly the address should be written for. The English word "address" does not explain anything. The French word "domicile" tells us that you need to write your home address. That is, you need to write your address at home.
In practice, all tourists write here the name of their hotel in Tunisia. We recommend doing just that, it's easier and faster. Name the hotel from your travel voucher.
At this moment, the first part of the migration map of Tunisia ends and the second part begins.
The "Full Name" column (11) is the full name . Write your name and surname. Do not forget about the European tradition to write first a name, and then a surname. Here you can write a patronymic, if you have such a desire.
The column "Maiden Name" (12) is a maiden name . Everything is the same as (3).
The column "Date and place of birth" (13) is the date and place of birth . Exactly as in (4).
Count "Nationality" (14) - citizenship . Repeat as in step (5).
The column "Address in Tunisia" (15) is the address of your stay in Tunisia . Here you need to write the name of your hotel. The address of the hotel is optional, you can only manage the name.
The column "Passport Nbr or Identify card Nbr" (16) - passport number . Everything is as in (7).
The column "Date and place of issuing" (17) is the date and place of receipt of a foreign passport . Everything is analogous to (8).
Some features of the migration card in Tunisia
As you have noticed, there are many inaccurate phrases in the Tunisian map. For example, who prevented in the first column write "Family name", so it was clear that this name? Or, in paragraph 10, it would be more accurate to say what address is meant.
On the other hand, there is no graph in the Tunisian card with the flight number, which makes life easier for tourists.
It is also a very strange fact - there is no need to indicate your gender, and such a graph is always present in migration maps. Also, the Tunisian map does not need to specify the purpose of the visit.
As a result, we can say that the migration card in Tunisia is one of the strangest in the world. In addition, one of the most uncomfortable for tourists. We hope that the Tunisian authorities will do something about this in the near future.
We, for our part, gave detailed instructions on how to fill in, and we hope that this will make the readers' holiday in Tunisian easier and more fun. On the links below you can open in a separate window a form and a sample of an immigration card of Tunisia - an empty form and a sample of filling .
