In our previous article " what to bring from Italy to a tourist " we told about everything interesting but not alcoholic that can be a good gift from the peninsula of the Apennines, and on this page we will tell you about the national alcoholic beverages in Italian cuisine, with which they are very rich.

The most famous Italian alcoholic beverage that is known all over the world is Chianti . At different times the name of the Chianti was called different wines. At the time of this writing, only red wine from the traditional Italian Sangiovese grapes has the right to be called this word.

The most chic version of the Chianti that a tourist can find is a traditional Italian bottle of fiasco. Our tourists call it "paunchy" (pictured right). For greater safety, it is wrapped in straw, bast or bark.

Do not rely on the strength of this design. If you want to bring such a gift home, as best you can pack the bottles, remember that the loaders at airports do not have a genuine love for your suitcases. If it's bad to pack, then a real fiasco can happen to your fiasco bottle.

Chianti is a dry wine. His taste is tart, but pleasant. To lovers of sweet wines with a light taste, we do not recommend it. In Tuscany produce many wines, including sweet and semisweet, many varieties were born precisely because of the demand of tourists. Look closely, you will find many interesting varieties.

Chianti is produced in the Italian province of Tuscany. These are the cities of Pisa, Florence and Siena. This is where you can find the largest assortment, the most attractive prices and the least chance of buying a fake.

There are many kinds of this wine, differing in composition and composition. Grapes Sangiovese is the main ingredient, but it does not have to be the only ingredient.

By the way about fakes, the real Chianti wine is marked with a special label with a picture of a black cock in a red circle. This is considered a sign of quality and proof of the original formula.

The production of some wines in Italy is governed by the laws of the country. In Russia, for example, there is a GOST system that performs similar functions. The difference is that in Italy this system works, and this label (pictured left) can be trusted.

Prices for the present Chianti in Italy are not very high, some varieties can be purchased at 10 euros per bottle. You can find even cheaper if you look for a more "simple" store.

Another interesting alcoholic beverage in Italy is grappa . Many people call it wine, but not so, you agree, call the drink a fortress from 40 degrees and above wine "the tongue will not turn." This is grape vodka, which was born more for economic reasons than for the connoisseurs of alcohol.

During the wine production season, a large amount of grape waste was accumulated, which it was simply a pity to throw out. Winemakers began the usual brewing with the use of this waste, so it turned out grappa.

The first to come up with this idea in the area in Italy near Venice, near Mount Grappa, hence the name. Grappa varieties are very many, if briefly described, the main difference lies in the aging time of the drink in the barrels before bottling. The longer the exposure the better. From the point of view of the technology of production, grappa resembles cognac more than vodka. Also, the grappa can be transparent, and can have a light or dark brown color (as in the photo to the right).

There are many fans of cognac, whiskey or brandy in the world. But fans of the use of grappa we never saw with our own eyes. This is logical. Prices for this drink start from 20 euros, but no unique taste qualities are found. From our point of view, grappa can be considered only as an exotic souvenir, buy a small bottle, just to try.

Limoncello is a lemon liqueur, very popular with the Italians themselves. This is a fairly strong drink, the percentage of alcohol content, usually equal to 30 percent.

Limoncello is an alcohol, infused on lemon crusts with the addition of sugar. Some varieties are produced with the pulp inside. Such a liquor is not considered elite, but you will agree, is a more colorful gift.

It is customary to use chilled from cold wine glasses. To drink it warm is difficult enough, the taste is too specific. Although our tourists manage to use this liquor on the beach and in a warm form, which we have repeatedly been observed.

Limoncello is considered to be a drink of the south of Italy, the center of its production is the island of Sicily.

The prices for this liquor are quite "democratic", from 15 euros for a bottle of 0.7 liters. Interesting taste and colorful appearance make limoncello an excellent gift from Italy. We recommend buying a bottle.

Liqueur campari is one of the "visiting cards" of the Italian alcoholic production. From Russians, few people drank this drink, but almost all readers will recognize the label. This label was one of the symbols of Western life for many residents of the USSR, a symbol of the dream of the beautiful existence of Europeans. However, any beautiful labels of alcoholic beverages were then similar symbols.

Campari is very popular in Italy and it can be bought in any supermarket. This liquor has a bitter taste, and many tourists are disappointed at the first use of this drink.

It's hard to say whether Campari is a vermouth or a liqueur, there are different opinions on this matter. Moreover, its recipe is classified by the manufacturer "Gruppo Campari". It is known that the components are several dozen, among them citrus fruits and herbs.

For several varieties the fortress varies from 20 to 30 degrees. Only the color is constant - this is necessarily red.

In Italy, prices for campari start from 20 euros per bottle of 0.7 liters. It is not very expensive considering the prices for other alcoholic beverages in the Italian Republic.

Of course, this is not a complete list of wines and liquors, which you can try and buy in Italy. To fully describe them, you will need more than one page on the Internet, and a whole large site. We talked only about the most popular of them. Try, buy and bring home those varieties that you will like.

Norms of export of alcoholic beverages from Italy.

According to the customs legislation of the Italian Republic, it is allowed to export 1 liter of alcoholic beverages stronger than 22 percent, or 2 liters of alcohol to 22 degrees. This is the norm for one person.

Of course, Italian customs officers are not very meticulous, Italians generally like to work "through the sleeves," but it's not worth the risk. It is better not to violate these norms, and if you want to bring more alcoholic beverages, then you should buy them at the airport in duty free shops.

Do not forget that in Russia you can import no more than 3 liters of alcohol without paying customs duties, and not more than 5 liters with the payment of duties per person. Do not overdo it.
